  • Is it possible to reverse/refund a DCC transaction?

    Yes, reversal or refund of a DCC transaction is possible. Your customer will see the refund in their account in their home currency. The general terms and conditions for reversal/refund of transactions included in your existing cooperation agreement with NBG Pay in regards to the provision of accepting, managing and clearing payment card transactions remain applicable and in force

    To reverse / refund a transaction follow the steps below:

    1. On the home menu press 'Refund'

    2. After entering the merchant password, press 'Confirm'

    3. Enter the refund amount and continue

    4. Ask your customer to insert the card into the POS terminal

    5. Confirm the transaction details and continue

    6. The customer enters PIN (if requested)

    7. The merchant receipt can be printed out

    8. The customer receipt can be printed out or sent via phone number/email

    Given that you have not closed your current batch, you can void a transaction by following the same process via the 'Void' button



  • Is it mandatory for the cardholder to make use of the DCC?

    According to the VISA and Mastercard rules and as long as the DCC service is available based on the functionalities of your terminal device, it is necessary to inform the customers about:

    • the ability to use the DCC service before the transaction is executed
    • the ability to choose the currency of the transaction
    • the pricing terms of the DCC service as displayed on the terminal screen

    Should the above rules of choice, transparency and clear information are not respected and you don't comply with Visa and MasterCard DCC Guidelines, the International Card Organizations (Visa / MasterCard) reserve the right to revoke the DCC service


  • Do dispute rules apply to DCC transactions?

    The International Card Schemes Visa/Mastercard provide cardholders with the ability to dispute DCC transactions. In order to reduce the risk of a transaction being disputed, your business should inform the cardholder about the ability to use the DCC service and proceed with the service exclusively upon the cardholder’s consent

  • In which currency will NBG Pay clear DCC transactions?

    NBG Pay clears all transactions in Euro. Your money is credited in Euro. The general terms of clearing transactions included in your existing agreement with NBG Pay for the services of acceptance, management and clearing of card payment transactions are in effect and shall apply.


  • Which cards support the DCC service?

    The DCC service is supported by debit and credit cards of the international card organizations Visa and Mastercard.


  • If I activate DCC, do I have to use it for every transaction with a foreign currency card?

    The POS automatically recognizes the country of issue of the card inserted into/held up to it (contactless use). The POS screen displays the required information to carry out the DCC transaction, and the customer can decide in which currency they would like to complete their transaction. The company informs the customer about the available options.


  • What are the key benefits for your business’s customers?

    Customers have the advantage of being updated in real time of the charges of each transaction, as the payment amount in the currency of the customer’s card is displayed on the terminal before the transaction is approved. The total charge arising from the currency conversion and the applicable exchange rate are displayed on the terminal so that customers can be duly informed.

    Firstly, no transaction commission is applied to DCC transactions. Furthermore, DCC transactions are also made with the cardholder’s consent, reducing the risk of charges being disputed, as long as Visa and Mastercard regulations are followed.   • How can I acquire the DCC service?

    The service is provided free of charge without any action required on your part, depending on the terminal you have chosen. The service is automatically activated upon signing your agreement with NBG Pay.
